And Lastly Two

At the beginning of October, my son and girlfriend brought over a bag each of their old tee shirts in hopes that I would be able to use them in a quilt for each of them. I had used a couple of their shirts to make into pillows. With a lot of tee shirts, I was able to pick out the best to use on the backside of their quilts.

My son's girlfriend loves cats, but sadly my son is allergic to them.

So I decided to make her quilt in a cat theme. I had enough leftover batiks and also the paw print motif fabric that was used in my son's quilt to make a rainbow of cats. I followed the Missouri Star's cat pattern. Got to love Missouri Star's Youtube!!

The backside has the tee shirts from her high school years; tee shirts that she got from Taiwan when visiting her Grandparents.

For my son's quilt, I had already purchased a fabric with paw prints as the motif back when JoAnn's was going out of business and before doggie. My son had been talking about getting a Shiba Inu for at least a year. I wanted this quilt to be for the dog since my son already has many quilts from me. I used scraps from my stash to use as the chain in the Irish Chain pattern.

An eclectic grouping for an eclectic group of tee shirts.

The dog isn't a blanket kind of dog, but he didn't mind for this photo. I think he doesn't mind being on top of the blanket, just not inside it. My son was good by rescuing a 4 year old Shiba!! The sweetest Shiba!!!

Baby It's Cold Outside!

Made a snuggly quilt using a minky blanket that I picked up at Bass Pro Shop recently.

The motif screams camping. I just had to get it!

I decided to use up leftover Christmas fabrics to turn it into a quilt.

Irish chain pattern is quick to cut and assemble.  I did minimal quilting, spacing six inch apart for the rows.

The rest of the quilt is held together by small stitches that hold a decorative knot in the center square of the nine patch blocks.

This is the last quilt and project for 2024. Staying warm and resting until the New Year arrives!

It's a Baby!

I haven't made a baby quilt in years. One of my mother's friends recently became a grandma. Yeah, my mom is in her early 90s. So, most of her friends should be great grandmas. This person is about my age. She became a dear neighbor to my parents decades ago. She still chats with my mom even though my mom has dementia.

Every so often I'm in touch with my mother's friend. When I heard that she had become a grandma for the first time I was so happy for her! She stated that for the next six months she will be babysitting the granddaughter.

About seven years ago, my mother gave me her fabrics since she was no longer quilting/sewing. Dementia had already stopped that activity for her. Well, knowing that my mom would have given her friend's daughter a baby gift, I decided to give the friend the gift. I collected some fabrics from mom's stash to use in a baby quilt that the proud grandma can use while babysitting her granddaughter. Yes, this is a baby gift for the grandma!

I also looked through my stash to see what fabrics would add to the cuteness of the quilt. I had enough flannel fabric from a pervious project that became the backing fabric.

Baby quilts go together quickly! Looking forward to making more in the future.
