I used my Singer 224 for the raw edge applique of the petals and bubbles.
The treadling of this machine is so smooth and the stitching of this machine is very pretty. It's an enjoyable machine to use for decorative stitching.
I've got a 223 that I love for many reasons, including the fact that it both zigzags and blind stitches. but it won't do anything else! I've never seen a 224 in person. Do the cams go on the front? I've been peering at your photo but have not figured it out.
Thanks! The cams go in front under the plate with Singer written on it. There a photo of the cam in previous post under Singer 224. Here's the link: http://color-my-world-with-warmth.blogspot.com/2012/06/made-in-japan.html
So far, all my people powered machines are only straight stitch. I need to find me a zig zag, or decorative stitch machine to 'unplug'. Fun!

DeleteWas that machine originally a treadle, or did you convert it?
ReplyDeleteThe quilt looks good - the colors are so happy!
This machine was originally a treadle. The Singer 224 came in treadle. Some may have added a motor to their machines. Thanks!
