The theme is of all of his interests and past interests: baseball, sailing, money, music, band, birds, solar system, space, travel, and even dogs. I used some fabric squares that Mom had sent me too. I also found some fabric that looks like a quilt, and I decided to honor Marie by using it in this quilt.

I Spy Quilt for my Dad.
My dad is turning 86 and at first I didn't have a clue what to get him for his birthday. I have seen numerous I Spy quilts (for kids), but recently I saw one that used this pattern which I like very much. I decided an I Spy quilt would make a cool and fun memory quilt for him to use.

Dem Bones Whirlygiggle
Finally finish the Halloween quilt. Top was pieced on the Janome (back in February) and quilted on both the Singer 201 (straight stitch) and Singer 15-90 (free-motion).

I went with a scary free motion quilting look instead of the cutesy quilting pattern look. I added a little spider in some of the webs to match my decorative signature stitch.

Back side. Bryan says it is like two quilts and that the spider web quilting goes with the spiders on the back.

Lauren's Baby quilt
Pieced on Thistle Marie, quilted on Classic Lady, and decorative binding stitched on Janome, Lauren's baby quilt is finished.
I love the cherry theme to this pinwheel quilt.
Front and back.
A peek at the top of the quilt. All of the pinwheels were pieced using Thistle Marie (Treadle), and the prairie points were basted on using Classic Lady (15-91), since that required lots of starts and stops to make sure points were on correctly. Quilting will be done on Classic Lady.
This is the material for pinwheel baby quilt that I will make for Lauren's baby shower.
The cherry theme squares will be used to make the pinwheels for the front of the quilt, and the large fabric with the small circles (that Erica says has a pea theme; hahaha) will be the back of the quilt. The yellow dragonfly fabric will be the binding. I forgot to show off the yellow squares in this photo; they are underneath the block of red.

Japanese Crossings/Anniversary quilt for my parents
Today is my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary, July 29,2010 ( Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad). This is a quilt I made for them to decorate their bed and keep them warm. My mom loves blue and their bedroom has light blue walls. This is the front of the quilt. I didn't realize when choosing fabric that the quilt would have a modern Japanese look. Saw this pattern in magazine at the library and fell in love with it immediately (that one was made of different shades of green with brown). Made this queen size quilt in one week so that it would make it in time for their anniversary (had to get it finish before my camping trip and get it mailed off in time to arrive).
Up close of all the fabrics for the top of quilt.
The back of quilt. Somewhere on the back I signed the quilt (think on red strip).
A look at both sides. Used my favorite decorative stitch on the binding; front side has white thread and back side is red.

Wonky Log Cabin
Years ago, Erica started a log cabin quilt but never finished it. She came across the squares that had been stored away recently and asked if I wanted to finish the project. She stated that she never finished the project since she had been frustrated with her finished blocks being irregular sizes. I told her no problem, that I could make them into wonky log cabin blocks by using her strips that she hadn't used and adding white for the background to square up the blocks. I used the blue and yellow strips that she had cut and additional fabric to piece the back. I just had enough fabric for the back. I'm delighted to say that Erica and I love the way this quilt has turned out.

Bali hexagon quilt
Here is the finished quilt. I washed it to remove all of the graphite markings, and now it has that old look.
The backside.
This is the center of the half hexi quilt that I have been working on.
Added a green boarder around the hexis. The yellow Bali print around the hexi center is only attached to the hexi center and not the green boarder.
Idea for quilting the the green boarder area.

Nora's Pinwheel quilt
Finished the vintage pinwheel quilt top and quilting; I just need to finish the binding. This quilt will go to Suzanne's baby, Nora. The quilt went together very quickly, and I just love the vintage material, the prairie points, and the overall look of this quilt.
This is the back of the quilt. I'm thinking of using the extra back material for the binding by folding it over and stitching it down with one of the decorative stitches on my machine.
I found a very cute vintage material the has a girl washing clothes and a clothes line. I used that for the binding and my favorite decorative stitch that my machine makes to complete the quilt.

Christmas banner
My mother-in-law saw this fabric hanging in a quilt shop and like it so much that I purchased it for her as a Christmas decoration for this coming year. I machine quilted the ornaments, garland, pot, and boarders for her since she is unable to do the quilting. She said that she wanted to hand stitch the edges, which made me extremely happy since I do not enjoy hand stitching.
I was fortunate to find this Christmas fabric that I used for the back on sale at 70% off.

Plain Spoken Quilt
This is the front of the Plain Spoken quilt that I just finished today. In the quilting world, it is commonly referred to as "plain spoken" because of the use of fabric with no print and only rectangles for a plain pattern. Since we were in need of a new comforter for the living room sofa, I decided this pattern would look handsome in our living room.
There is a Balinese theme to the back of the quilt with this batik from Bali that matches all of the colors from the front. The added strip of solid gold (one of the colors used in the front) unites the front theme to the back. This looks extremely exquisite on my brown sofa in the living room.
Front and back, two totally different looks to this quilt. Don't forget to double click the image to see the photo enlarged.

Bunny quilt
This started out as a baby quilt for my niece, but now will find its home with a person who just adores bunnies and the color pink. The pattern is rail fence, which is very easy and quick to put together. The bunnies, and the pinks and greens in this quilt are so cute. If you click the pictures you can see the print up close.
The back is a solid pink with a print of white butterflies. Since I had leftover pink, butterfly, flannel binding from my quilt, I decided to make use of it by using the binding on this quilt. I'm glad I did; I just love the look. My machine has a very cute flower embroidery stitch that matches the flower design in the light pink border. I used it to finish off the binding so that I wouldn't have to hand stitch. I repeated the pattern by stitching over a couple of seams.

My blooming garden.
This is the front of a queen size quilt that I made for my bed. I used the blooming nine patch pattern to give a feel of a garden. The fabric is flannel.

Disappearing Nine Patch

My daughter was in need for another blanket. I surprised her by using her school's "tartan" colors. I decided on the disappearing nine patch since it is the closest to a tartan pattern that was easy for me to quilt at the time. I machine straight stitched down the middle of the thin strips. The diversity of patterns for the disappearing nine patch was fun to play with.

This is the back side of the quilt. I had extra material from the front that I used to make the back more interesting.

Tee Shirt quilt
This is my first quilt after an extremely long hiatus. The use of my daughter's tee shirts that she collected over the years and the simple log cabin pattern creates a different look from the typical tee shirt quilts. The back is a soft, flower print flannel.
